Sacred Heart

The Sacred Heart of Jesus (and those of Mary and Joseph) are an extremely popular devotion, even among non-Catholics. In an appearance to St. Margaret Mary, Jesus told her of his love for humanity and how it consumed his heart with fire. Devotion to this deep and abiding love of Jesus for humanity is a devotion to the gift of God Himself. Mary's Immaculate Heart, crowned with roses and pierced with the sword prophesied by St. Nicodemus, and St. Joseph's Chaste Heart, surrounded by lilies, are sometimes included with the Sacred Heart of Jesus in devotion to the Holy Family.
